TRAINING/EMS DIVISION
The Northern Lakes Fire Protection District partners with the Kootenai County EMS System (KCEMSS) to provide ambulance and medical transport services to the citizens of our fire district from both our fire stations in Hayden and in Rathdrum.
All of the District's 36 firefighters are also certified EMTs, including 15 paramedics. We responded to more than 5,000 EMS calls in 2020.

Northern Lakes Fire Protection District members spend a large amount of time training to maintain their skill set in helping to keep you and your family safe. They not only instruct other members of this industry locally and nationally, they also participate in local and national training to improve their skills and capabilities to better protect the public.

NLFPD Paramedics (Advanced Life Support Providers) also provide ALS services on an as-needed basis to the communities of Athol, Bayview, Spirit Lake, and Blanchard. They work in conjunction with our partner agencies of Timberlake Fire Protection District and Spirit Lake Fire Protection District to make sure that all citizens of the northern county have access to top-notch services from consummate professionals.
Emergency medical calls make up nearly 70% of the district's call volume, ranging from medical and trauma to rescue emergencies. NLFPD members are regularly recognized for their community contributions to life-saving efforts.
